Leslie Vernard McDonald (born February 4, 1991) is an American college basketball player for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.[1] He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended Briarcrest Christian School.
McDonald was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 4, 1991 to Leslie, Sr. and Wanda McDonald.[2]
He received multiple Tennessee player of the year honors during his junior and senior seasons at Briarcrest Christian School. He averaged 20.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a senior. He is also the all-time leading scorer in Memphis private school history, with 2,353 points.[3]
McDonald committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on June 9th, 2008, after also receiving scholarship offers from Duke, Georgetown, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball, Louisville, Memphis, Ohio State, Tennessee, Wake Forest.[4][5][6]
